Everyone likes to sit around and reminisce. The Village-Aires will reminisce some soul music as they celebrate 45 years of bringing music to the Minonk Community. They will present their spring concert "A Journey for the Soul" on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 3 p.m. The concerts will be at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 236 W. 5th St., in Minonk, IL. There will be no intermission. Tickets purchased in advance are $5.00 for adults. At the door they are $6.00. Student tickets are $2.00.
The men will take us back to the Architect of Rock and Roll as they sing "Good Golly Miss Molly." They will also sing "Jamaica, Farewell!" which was sung by the King of Calypso, Harry Belafonte. Another Harry Belafonte number "Day-O" will be sung by a small mixed group. Maybe your soul enjoys Rhythm and Blues such as the song "Lean on Me" sung by Bill Withers or may be you enjoy Country Music such as "Come On In" as presented by the Oak Ridge Boys". For many people soul music is Gospel music or the traditional religious music such as "Swing Down Chariot, "Old Time Religion Medley", and "The Lord's Prayer."
