Get ready for a night of Broadway Shows as the Village-Aires present their spring concert "Echoes of Broadway." They will perform this show on Saturday, April 26 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m. Both performances will be at the Fieldcrest H. S. gym in Minonk, IL. Tickets may be purchased in advance from Village-Aires members for $5. Tickets at the door will be $6.

"On Broadway" will get us in the mood for the musicals that the group will be singing. Remember the musical "Oklahoma?" Dick Leonard will lead this musical off by singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning." "Surrey with the Fringe" will be sung by: Loretta Hunt, Shirley Missey, Amber Andrews, Nancy Redenius, Becky Oltman, Debby Cargill, Joan Jochums, Marylu Pille, Michelle Janssen, Jay Hurd, Dick Leonard, Don Oesch, and Jerry Welch. Then Becky Oltman will sing "Out of My Dreams." "Kansas City" will be sung by the Men's 4 with the entire group coming in on "Oklahoma."

One of the earlier Broadway musicals was "South Pacific." Will "Bali Ha'i" call you? Lana Stimpert will send that man on his way as she sings "I'm Gonna Wash that Man." The men will let us know that there is "Nothin' Like a Dame." The entire cast will close out the "South Pacific" selections with "Some Enchanted Evening."

From Biblical scriptures we have the Broadway Musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." The entire cast will do several selections including: "Jacob and Sons," "Any Dream Will Do," "Close Every Door," "Benjamin Calypso," and "Go Go Joseph." Russ McCulley and the women will sing "Song of the King."

A fairly recent musical is "Phantom of the Opera." "Phantom," "Think of Me," "Music of the Night," and "All I Ask of You" will be sung by the entire Village-Aires group.

Village-Aires is under the direction of Elaine Cunningham. The choreographer is Marylu Pille, and Jerry Welch is the program director.

So, come out, sit back, relax, and enjoy your favorite Broadway Musicals as the Village-Aires present "Echoes of Broadway."
