Minonk's First Baptist Church has called Dr. Frank Beaty of Bloomington to be their interim pastor. Jay Hurd, chairman of the Deacon board, stated, "We are thrilled with the possibility of working with Dr. Beaty during this time of pastoral transition."
Beaty officially begins April 1. His first public responsibility will be April 2 with the Maunday Thursday service at 7:00. Beaty is affiliated with Interim Pastor Ministries. He has served as the intentional interim pastor of churches in Garner, Iowa; Williston, North Dakota; and Derby, Vermont since 2008. He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Monmouth College, Dallas Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Beaty celebrated fifty years of marriage to Judie in 2014. They have three children and twenty-six grandchildren.
Ashley Baker, chairman of the pastoral search committee, expressed her enthusiasm in locating Beaty to serve the church, "He and Judie are personable and skillful people. I am convinced God has special plans for our church family in 2015."
First Baptist Church of Minonk is located at 300 East Fifth Street. Worship services begin at 10:30 each Sunday. The church also hosts a vibrant Wednesday Night Connection each week. It begins with a simple supper. Recently they hosted 90 children and teens. The church organized in 1858 and is affiliated with the American Baptist organization.
