Four area youths have admitted to vandalizing signs in Minonk since late February.  According to Russell Ruestman of the Woodford County State's Attorney office, three of the youths are from Minonk and one is from Rutland.  One of the suspects, Trevor Decker, 17, of Minonk, is being held at the Woodford County jail on residential burglary charges.  The other three youths are juveniles.

Ruestman said that the youths admitted to damaging up to 50 signs.  Most of the signs were campaign signs for Mayor Mark Spencer and candidate Bill Koos.   The youths indicated that there was no political motivation in pulling the candidate signs. In addition,  they admitted to pulling signs for Relay for Life, Century 21, and Meyers-Jochums Real Estate.  One of the youths has already been charged with damaging the lamps at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home and statues and landscaping at St. Patrick's Church.

The youths told officials that they didn't realize their capers would be "such a big deal". They said that a lot of other kids were doing vandalism.  Ruestman said that charges will be brought against the accused perpetrators.
