Former Minonk resident and MDR graduate Jackie Goff has developed a new board game called "Spellen-Meister.” The vocabulary game requires players to form words from two-letter combinations called word sets.
Jackie, who is a retired federal government lawyer and inspector general, devised the game one night while doing crossword puzzles. She thought why not create a game in which each player is challenged to make as many words as possible out of word sets, the same as when trying to determine a correct word from only a few letters when doing a crossword puzzle? She then scoured the dictionary and came up with 2700 possible combinations of word sets for game playing.
Jackie, who lives in Delaware, used her legal background to help her resolve trademark and copyright issues. She then developed a web site and has created an initial production run of 500 copies of the game to be distributed through select stores. If sales prove sufficient, she will then sell the game to a game company and have it distributed and sold nationwide
The web site where the game can be purchased is at www.spellen-meister.com. Locally, the game can be purchased from Gryfalias Aerie at 309 N. Main Street in Bloomington for $36. Their number is 309/828-9196.
