Holger Prikker, shown at the left, sent some pictures from East Frisia in northwest Germany. The views are of the wind turbines that frequent the coast of Germany and also of the nearby Volkswagen plant that produces the Volkswagen Passat. Holger works as a border policeman for a car transporter from Emden, Germany.
Holger said he views MinonkTalk almost everyday from his home in Germany. Holger is related to the Kettwich family in the Minonk area. His great grandmother Engel Schlömer was a sister to Grandma Geeske Schlömer Kettwich of Minonk who died at the age of 102 in 1951. "Grandma" Kettwich had 11 children and has numerous descendants in the Minonk area.
Holger's grandfather, Weert Peters Prikker, lived in Minonk and
Flanagan with the Kettwich family in the early part of the 20th century. In 1916 he was naturalized but in 1920 came back to East Frisia. He wanted to go back to the US within six
month but then he met Holger's grandmother and stayed in Germany.
Many Minonk people can trace their family history back to the East Friesland area of northwest Germany where Holger lives. Among the many names in that area are familar Minonk names like Harms, Gerdes, Janssen, Uphoff, Kettwich, etc. The area is flat similar to the Minonk area and, like Minonk, has wind turbines.

Above is Holger's grandfather Weert Prikker and his grandmother Jakobine Prikker. Weert went back to Germany from Minonk in 1920.

This view is along the windy northern coast of Germany showing the many wind turbines.

This is a view of the Volkswagen factory near the coast. The parking lot is full of Passats waiting to be distributed.

Another view of the Volkswagen plant and a wind turbine.
