SPRINGFIELD, IL –
Illinois
military personnel, active duty and National Guard members who are currently
deployed or recently returned are eligible to receive free tax preparation,
according to State Sen. Dan Rutherford (R-Pontiac).
“I wanted to inform our
brave servicemen and women about this opportunity to take advantage of this free
service courtesy of the Illinois CPA Society,” Rutherford said.
The 24,000 members of
the Illinois CPA Society are showing their appreciation for the dedicated
service by offering free personal tax preparation services to anyone who is
deployed or recently returned from a combat zone or other qualified hazardous
duty area. CPA Society members will match service personnel with local tax
preparers to find full tax benefits, exclusions, filing and payment extensions
available to qualified individuals. Service personnel are encouraged to use this
service if they do not have an existing relationship with a tax professional.
The service is available year-round to service personnel and family
members.
