A Fieldcrest South student has had a tumor removed this morning at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Brandon Hale, a third grade student at Fieldcrest South was diagnosed with a tumor near his spine several weeks ago. According to a Facebook page posed by Brandon's parents the operation was successful. Below is their Facebook post.

They were able to remove about 95% of the tumor. He is in recovery right now. They are sending the pathology to St Jude and we will find out the results from that in 2-3 days. They are planning a PET Scan tomorrow or the next day to make sure there isn't spreading anywhere else. He will require chemotherapy and or radiation in Memphis. We will know more about St Jude's game plan within a few days pending all of the other tests. If anybody has any questions just comment and I'll try to answer what I can. Thank you everybody for all of your prayers and blessings.

Brandon is a classmate of Alex McKay and the late Bryce McKay who were both diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. Alex is currently undergoing treatment at St. Jude's in Memphis. While Brandon's tumor is different from the McKay twins, the fact that another classmate has a tumor is very unusual.
