Minonk City Clerk James Liner has resigned from his position. Liner
turned in his resignation to City Hall Monday afternoon and his
resignation is effective as of 5:30 pm Monday, February 11. Liner had
been appointed to the position of City Clerk three times by Mayor Bill
Koos and was elected once, serving a total of seven years and 10 months.
Liner said that due to extenuating circumstances he had no choice but to
resign so that as a private citizen he could effectively defend his
reputation and integrity.
His resignation was preceded by the issue
surrounding the splash park water rate reduction where a citizen asked if it was ever approved. Liner said it wasn't in any of his officially approved city council minutes and was never discussed or voted on in an open session by the city council.
