Rep. Kinzinger votes for tax relief plan
Wednesday, January 02, 2013 - Posted 9:51:15 AM by U. S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger
WASHINGTON – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 8, the American Taxpayer Relief Act; a bipartisan plan to avert the fiscal cliff:
"Tonight
I supported legislation to avert the fiscal cliff with reservations.
While the American Taxpayer Relief Act provides permanent tax relief for
millions of families and small businesses, it fails to include
necessary spending cuts.
"This
bill also extends the farm bill through the end of the fiscal year,
extends the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate for a year, and makes
permanent current death tax policy.
"The
House acted numerous times, well before the January 1st deadline, to
offer a balanced approach. I'm disappointed that the Senate and White
House ignored these talks until the eleventh hour. In the coming months,
the Senate and White House must work with us to tackle serious fiscal
reforms including the sequester and the debt ceiling. The American
people chose a divided government in Washington and they're counting on
us to work together."
