Crushing

Re: John Taylor's comment about Moran St.
The city didn't go through eminent domain to obtain the land to put Moran Street through. I would know this because I am one of the property owners they had to purchase land from in order to put the street through. I was, in fact, the last land owner they approached to purchase property if I recall correctly.

Re: JustCore Concrete crushing...
Many people have opinions but very few of those opinions are a result of living right near the establishment. I am the closest resident to JustCore Concrete. To put things in a nutshell... Was is loud? Well, if outside, it was quite loud but not unbearable. I could still hear it while I was in my house & typically it was dark before it stopped. Generally I wasn't bothered by it. If it was a prolonged & often done crushing, THEN, I would be bothered by it. Dust? I didn't see any proof of dust from my place. I was pleased to see they got a crusher that consistently used water to keep the dust down.
Should the city take them to court? -maybe if it is done again w/o required permit. JustCore was fully aware of needed permit so they should at least be fined-just like any of us might be if we were to build w/o a permit or allow our grass to grow too long. The crushing w/o permit was done knowingly so there is no reason why they shouldn't be fined.
Are there things the city can improve? YES-but it has nothing to do with the case at hand.
Thank you-

Crushing

If I recall justcore sight is on the old location of the slag piles from the mines. This means its mine site and railroad ground. Unless the city rezoned this area, it should be zone heavy industrial and as long as they are not breaking the law or EPA standards there is really nothing the city can do about this. I would bet the city does not have a ordinance about crushing concrete. I would have bet this wasn't even in city limits until the city did eminent domain to put the Moran street extension 20 years ago. Maybe they can just dump their waste around the nature trail like the city. Maybe if the city would learn to play nicely they would grind their waste also so when people use the nature trail they don't have to look at the city waste.

No Parking On Chestnut Street Saturday Afternoon

There will be No Parking on Saturday prior to and after the Parade of Lights on both sides of Chestnut from 4th Street to 6th Street. We will be putting up No Parking signs/barricades on Saturday afternoon and want to give people a heads up so they don't' park there earlier in the day and we need to have them move their vehicles.
