St Jude Bingo Night

Question??? The article for the fundraiser said the date is March 11 but the flyer says March 18. Which is correct? Thanks

Pam Jolly

Editor reply: The date is March 11, not March 18. The flyer has been changed.

City Council Members

It sounds as though a lot of people are frustrated with members of the City Council. Keep in mind, if you don't like what someone is doing or disagree with them in general (hopefully for good reason) then seriously think about voting them out. America is the best country in the world simply because ALL voices count.
Thanks.

response to Wake Up

I also have nothing but respect for the new police chief. I approached him with an issue I was having and he assured me that it would be taken care of. He knows what he is doing, he cares, and he is fair. Thanks Chief!!

Wake UP!

I would just like to comment on Minonk's Police Chief! He is an A + when it comes to his credentials and his knowledge of Law Enforcement Rules. He is a responsible Police Chief and ATTEMPTS to do his work for the betterment of the community and people of Minonk. He has problems with two City Council Members that are attempting to tell him how to do his job. Their job as council members is to work with the council as a whole, not as independents. I doubt if anyone knows about the thank you letter that was sent to Police Chief Wherry, This had happened during one of the ice storms;

Dear Police Chief Wherry, I want to thank you for saving my husband and father from the storm. He was lost and he had no idea of what to do. Thank goodness you came along and provided him with a warm car and got his car started. We will always be indebted to you for what you did. We now have our father and husband home. Thank you very much. The McCormicks (and the two boys and wife signed their name and sent some goodies to him).

But, do you ever hear about the good things that police do? They usually do not go around telling people! For some reason, police officers are at fault for things that go on, when really, take a look around.......who starts the trouble? It is people who think they can do a better job than the person who is HIRED to do that job! I attended a City Council meeting and it was an eye-opener! I can tell you that I do know the rules and regulations of being on a Board.......because of certain members, the meeting that I attended was not legal. In other words, names were brought up that should have been brought up in closed session. I am certainly hoping that the other Council Members stand up for what is right and let certain people who are hired to do their job. They are there because they believe in the community and people of Minonk..........not like these two board members who seem to be causing all of the problems.

Try to say "thank you" to the people who work for your community!:

Nancy Wherry

Vicki Landherr: I had a chance to meet the police chief after he first started in Minonk. I was very impressed with him. He was very caring and took care of the problem we had. Minonk is very fortunate to have him!
Mark Ferguson: I have spoke with the chief on a few subjects very informative and considerate my thumps up to him !!!
Becky Nalan: Spoke with him once about an issue and haven't had a problem since. A reasonable, down to earth man is what I found him to be. Seemed to understand the importance of the Police force melding into a small community. He actually listened and heard me out and I would not have any reservations about going to him with any future issues. That's a good thing, I feel.
Gail Zack: The police chief is a very personable professional ,who in my opinion is getting picked on by people who are just upset that he does his job right and not the way they want.

CLEANING UP THE CITY

This play depicts a longer period of time in the life of Jesus Christ than you might expect of a play that is done only in the Spring. Your support for this colossal production will help it exist well into the future.

Minonk Police Department

It's good to see officer Colt Stovall back in Minonk. Unfortunately, I've heard rumors and gossip about him that is simply untrue. He is a straight up man, one of the few people I would take a bullet for and what I call a war hero.
Please, let's stop the slanderous lies.
Thank you for your time.

Scott Sharp

Gail Zack: Agreed, ALL of the rumors about ALL of our Police men and women should stop....
Pam Jolly: Stop the gossip! It serves no purpose other than to harm!
