Yearbooks added to MinonkTalk

February 17, 2015   Editor: Dave Uphoff
The yearbooks for the Minonk and Fieldcrest school districts have been added to this website. This was made possible by the digitizing of all the high school yearbooks from 1917 to 2014 by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The digital files were placed on dvds and sent to the Filger Library who in turn allowed us to put the annuals on this website. If you want your own digital copy of a high school yearbook you can purchase them from the Filger Library for $15.

Yearbooks for 1917 and 1942 through 1964 have been added so far. Yearbooks will be continually added in the future. Viewing the yearbooks should prove to be interesting as it shows us at our physical and perhaps mental peak in our life.

Not all pages are reproduced from the yearbooks on this website because of space considerations. However, everyone's picture will be shown along with the faculty, sports, homecoming, etc. There is a link to the yearbooks at the middle of the front page of this website.

The first yearbook was in 1917. For some reason, there wasn't another yearbook until 1942. It is interesting to note that the first yearbook in 1917 set the format for the following yearbooks. The earlier yearbooks showed more writing such as class wills, class prophecies and class history. However, in the mid 1950's class wills and prophecies were dropped.

Another interesting thing to note is the number of teachers in the schools in the earlier years. In 1942 there were 10 teachers and 44 students while in 1964 there were 20 teachers and 62 students. A few new courses such as driver's education were added along the way but for the most part, the curriculum remained the same.

We hope you enjoy the yearbook link on this website as we reminisce about what some people say were the best years of our life.
