Obituary

Nigel Seth Wood, 45, of Minonk, passed away at 3:52 p.m. Saturday (May 6, 2017) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

He was born Jan. 30, 1972, in Palm Springs, Calif., to Samuel and Mary Neal Wood. He married Tammie Armstrong on Oct. 27, 2012, in Minonk. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Mary Catherine Wood, Lincoln; two daughters, Lauren Martin, Kangley, and Erin Wood, Streator; two stepsons, Brandon Tull, Minonk, and Matthew Tull, Pontiac; one stepdaughter, Kayla Tull, Minonk; one brother, Nehemiah (fiancée, Tina Hjerpe) Wood, Streator; two sisters, Alyshia (Bob) Thomas, Atlanta, and Sonja Wood, Lincoln; five half brothers, Darryl Wood, Birmingham, Ala.; Randy (Jasmin) Wood, Round Lake Beach; Leslie (Sandra) Wood, Missouri; Robyn (Martha) Wood, Fontana, Calif.; and Geoffrey Wood, Chicago; one half sister, Natalie Wood, New Lennox; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Nigel was working at the Caterpillar location in Pontiac as a laborer. Prior to Caterpillar he worked at Wal-Mart for eight years.

Nigel was a U.S. Army veteran, serving eight years before being honorably discharged. He grew up in Streator before moving to Minonk. He was an avid pool player and loved music and singing karaoke. Nigel was a big fan of Pink Floyd, the Three Stooges and good food. He enjoyed spending time with his family whenever he could. He was also a member of Minonk Baptist Church.

His funeral will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Minonk. The Rev. Eric Holtrop will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded.
