Obituary: Alma Wilcox, 98 - April 8, 2017
Alma Wilcox, 98, of Minonk, passed away at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Heritage Manor in Minonk.

She was born May 7, 1918 in Canton, IL to Doyle and Flora Sherwood. She married Robert M. Wilcox on December 18, 1937 in Elmwood. He passed away in October on 1986.She was also preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Sean David Wilcox and grandson, Isley Bullard.

Surviving are her children, David (Eleanor) Wilcox of Warrenton, VA, Martha (Bob Peyer) of Peoria, Peggy Bullard of Minonk; 7 grandchildren; Robert (Tanya) Wilcox, Tony (Robin) Wilcox, Michael (Kisha) Peyer, Charles (Jessica) Bullard, Stephanie (Don) Bowolek, Casey Harris, Carly Bullard; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Alma graduated from Canton High School. She went to beauty school after graduation. They moved to Minonk where they would raise their family.

Alma was the former president of the Woodford County Cancer Association and Extension Board. She served as chairman of the Woodford County 4H fair and was a 4H leader for 15 years.

She was a 73 year member of the Minonk United Methodist Church and the former president when the Church received the WSCS Charter, she also served as a board member and trustee. She was a former 4th of July Parade Marshall, she is a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, P.E.O and chapter president, Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, former president of the Minonk Women's Club, Girl Scout Leader and played in the Minonk Bowling League.

Alma went to St. James City on Pine Island in Florida every year since 1979 where she enjoyed playing golf and Bridge. She had Master points in Duplicate Bridge. She was a member of Fort Nightly Bridge Club for 40 years. She was also the president of the Alden Pine Golf League in Florida, served as a member of the Filger Library Board and Civic Center Association on Pine Island. Alma also enjoyed knitting, watching plays and reading.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Minonk United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
