Tena Tarman, 101, formerly of Decatur, died at 11:25 a.m. May 23, 2008, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minonk, with the Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe officiating. Burial will follow with military rites in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Tena was born Dec. 9, 1906, near Minonk, the daughter of John and Frederica Janssen Tarman. After graduating from Minonk High School, she received her nurse's degree from Brokaw Hospital and a bachelor of science degree from Millikin University, Decatur. She received a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois.
She served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps 97th Evacuation Hospital from June 17, 1941, to Oct. 31, 1945, in France and Belgium. She was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for her meritorious service.
Tena was employed by the Decatur District 61 as a school nurse in junior high and elementary schools until retirement in 1972.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
