Obituary: David E. Seifert, 80 - April 10, 2017
David E. Seifert, 80, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017. David was born on March 20, 1937 in Streator, Illinois to the late Elvin and Helen Seifert of Minonk.

David graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa in 1959 and from Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa in 1963. He was ordained as a Lutheran minister (ELCA) in 1963. He served congregations in Litchfield, North Dakota; Elizabeth, Illinois, and St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Michigan City, Indiana. He later served as a chaplain with Saint Anthony's Hospital in Michigan City, Indiana.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years Joan Seifert; sons Timothy Seifert (Jamia) and Jeffrey Seifert; daughters Teresa Seifert-Freeland (Howie) and Jacqueline Schwanke (Michael); grand-children Jolean Seifert, James Seifert, Jarrett Seifert, Michael Mize, Chelsea Shoger, Cole Seifert, Katlynn Schwanke, and Nathan Schwanke; six great grand-children; brother Bill Seifert (Barb); sister Linda Zulz; sister-in-law Jane Diaz(Bill); and sister-in-law Barb Kalkwarf.

He is preceded in death by daughter in-law Carol Seifert; brother-in-law William Zulz; and brother-in-law Shorty Kalkwarf.

The pending service arrangements are being handled by Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Services, Michigan City.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
