Obituary: Virgil M. Petri, 95 - September 28, 2018
Virgil M. Petri, 95, of Metamora, formerly of Minonk, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday (Sept. 28, 2018) at Snyder Village, Metamora.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Minonk, with Franciscan friars officiating. Cremation rites will follow and burial will be at a later date in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Minonk. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to Veterans Association.

Virgil was born July 9, 1923, in Minonk, the son of Michael and Sarah Roberts Petri. He married Jeanne A. Kruse in January 1952 in Minonk. She survives along with two sons Virgil "Nick" (Kathy) Petri, Minonk; and Chris (Michelle) Petri, Germantown Hills; one sister, Mary Ford, Minonk; three grandchildren, Amy Roff and Ethan and Stephen Petri; and two great-grandchildren.

Virgil was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Minonk. He was a U.S. Marine veteran serving in World War II. He owned and operated Petri Brother's Construction and retired in 1995. He enjoyed golfing and flying his plane. Virgil was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
