Sybil Howell, 80, of Minonk died at 1:13 a.m. Friday (March 14, 2008) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Sybil was born March 24, 1927, in Gazette, Mo., to Don and Beulah Lorene Stopher Gay. She married Arthur Howell Jr. on Sept. 4, 1948, in Wellsville, Mo. He survives in Minonk.

Also surviving are six sons, Gary Howell, Minonk; Allen Howell, Bloomington; Richard Howell, Minonk; David (Tina) Howell, Minonk; Jeffery Howell, Minonk; Kenny Howell, Washburn; one daughter, Sandra (Terry) Hodgsen, Clinton; four brothers, Don (Nancy) Gay, Low Point; James Gay, Edinbura, Texas; Ralph (Natalie) Gay, Riverton; Ray Gay, Austin, Texas; and two sisters, Dorothy Zumpano, Santa Clara, Calif.; and Norma Meachum, Glencoe, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Her parents and one infant son, John Wayne Howell, preceded her in death.

Sybil was a homemaker and a member of Minonk Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary of Minonk.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the memorial home. The Rev. Richard Olson will officiate. Burial will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery, Minonk.
