Obituary: Folkert Duane Cremer, 77 - May 18, 2017
RUTLAND - Folkert Duane Cremer, 77, of Lacon, formerly of Rutland, died Thursday (May 18, 2017) at his son's home in El Paso.

Born Dec. 30, 1939, in rural Rutland to the late Folkert G and Anna Ruestman Cremer, he was married to Sandra Kay Thompson for nine years and had two children. He later married Chris Thomas on June 28, 1974, in Eureka.

Duane was a security guard at Caterpillar Mossville for 32 years. For many years, he was an avid bicyclist, riding the Hennepin canal and Mississippi River trails. Duane was a former member of the Woodford County Sheriff's Posse.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; sons, Jason Cremer, El Paso; James (Ava) Cremer, Minonk; Todd Haas, Lacon; and daughter, Myra (Jeff) Turner, El Paso. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis, and daughter, Aleys "Sissy" Cremer.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenz Memorial Home, Lacon, with private family burial of ashes in Old Salem Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Lacon Sparland Ambulance or Fire.
