The Minonk City Council approved the 2011 tax levy which will be applicable to 2012 taxes with aldermen Faulk and Ruestman voting no. City Administrator Doug Elder said the Woodford County Clerk will determine the City's tax revenue based on this levy. Elder said the levy has not changed much from last year. The City's appropriated budget for 2012 is $3,789, 507 of which $503,223 will be from the tax levy. Prior to approving the tax levy, the Council also approved Ordinance 2011-21. The ordinance amends the budget and appropriation for all corporate purposes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2011 and ending April 30, 2012.
The Council passed a Mutual Aid Intergovernmental Public Works and Assistance Agreement which has already been passed by most communities in the area.
Comprehensive Planning CommitteeThe Comprehensive Planning Committee met on December 5. The committee discussed MAPPING the Future of Your Community, a visioning and planning process offered through the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. MAPPING is an acronym for Management and Planning Program Involving Nonmetropolitan Groups. Chairman Julie Redenius handed out copies of comprehensive planning proposals submitted by two planning consultants: Michael Reibel and Tri-County Regional Planning Commission. The committee discussed that the planning process may take up to a year to complete and importance of involving a representative cross section of the community.
The next committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 3, 2012. In preparation for that meeting, committee members will suggest names of community members who may be interested in serving on the planning committee, review the plans of other communities and review the proposals of the two planning consultants.
