The Minonk City Council approved a motion to reduce the number of members on the zoning board from 7 to 5. Retiring zoning board chairman Eldon Folkerts will remain as a non-voting Advisory Member. The council also approved the appointment of Eric Aeschliman as the new chairman of the zoning board.
In other business the council were given a first reading on an resolution to transfer 7 acres of property located at the corner of Cemetery Road and Mary Street to the Minonk Township. This property was a parcel included in the purchase of Section Six from USA Waste Management. This transaction will give the township and place for erecting a new township building.
The council accepted the recommendation from the Public Works Committee not to change the water bill amount assessed to property owned by Randy Kleen at 422 W. First Street. A water line burst between the meter and the resident building which resulted in a very high water bill.
Public Comments
Minonk resident Gene Oncken inquired as to why the public always has to notify the city about street lights being out. City Administrator Doug Elder said that the city has just finished replacement for ComEd street lights that were out. Elder said that it is an ongoing challenge to keep street lights working.

City Administrator Doug Elder said that the new concession stand at Veterans Park is now functional and is being used.
The new recycling bin purchased by the city has arrived. The City Adminsitrator urged the public to read the signs on the bins and put recyclables in the appropriate bins. He said the new bin is bigger than the previous one and that the bins are getting real good use.
Mayor's Comments
The Mayor said the Petri Bros. signs are both up at each end of town and thanked those who were involved in the project.
The city has purchased a new vacuum truck.
The Mayor announced the new appointments to the various committees.
