Three new councilmen and a new city clerk were sworn into office at the Minonk City Council meeting Monday night. Incumbents Larry Fortner and Russell Ruestman and newly elected Todd Cremer were sworn into office by City Administrator Gary Brennan. Cremer replaces outgoing Kari Carls. Also sworn in was Leta Janssen who was appointed City Clerk by Mayor Bill Koos.
In the only action taken, the council approved amendments to the City Liquor Ordinance. The new ordinance reduces the annual liquor license fee from $500 to $250 and removes the limit on the number of class A liquor licenses. However, there shall be no more than 2 class B licenses, 3 class C licenses, and 2 class D licenses in effect at any one time. The new ordinance also deletes the Special Holiday Closing clause which means taverns may be open on Christmas Even and other holidays.
