Minonk native Martha Eikenmeyer Owens is the co-author of a new book published this past summer. Martha and Walter Del Mar combined their literary talents to publish a book about letters written by Walter's father to his mother before they were
married which tell of the adventures, trials and triumphs of
a young mining engineer in the gold mining camps of California in the
early 1900s.
Prior to moving to California, Martha spent most of her adult life in Minonk where she was a high
school teacher and a journalist.
Walter Del Mar, a retired
Californian, lives close to the San Bernardino Mountains for which he
has great love and knowledge. He describes himself as a sailor,
yachtsman, fisherman, pilot, golfer and sportsman. He is also the author
of The Goldmines of Blackhawk Canyon.
